Ranged or Archer Generals in Evony TKR

Ranged generals lead powerful PvP archer forces in Evony The Kings Return. They provide the best counter to mounted or cavalry heavy cities or buildings, usually suffering minimal losses as they kill their enemies from distance.

The most powerful archer generals have a very high ranged attack stat. This comes from both their skills/specialities and their attributes (attack).

Even so, there are a few different types of ranged generals, for leading a PvP march, to defending your city. There's even one for leading a reinforced march. The buffs of these ranged generals often depend on whether they are attacking or defending.

Best Attacking Ranged/Archer Generals in Evony

The best attacking ranged generals in Evony TKR are Minamoto no Yoshitsune, Simeon the Great, Alfred the Great, Princess Kaguya, and Elektra.

For attacking ranged generals, the most important buff is Ranged Attack. This is because killing your enemies at a distance before they get to you also helps defensively.

Even with ground as the natural counter to ranged, a very highly buffed ranged attack can destroy a weakly buffed ground march.

The best defending ranged generals in Evony TKR are Minamoto no Yoshitsune, Zachary Taylor, Ly Thuong Kiet, Edward the Black Prince, and Gwanggaeto the Great.

For defensive ranged generals, ranged attack is also the most important, but it helps to have other type buffs in addition to ranged attack.

This is because your defense general will not be leading a type specific march, but rather leading the entire army in your city. One popular secondary buff for a ranged defense general is siege.

Siege is a great secondary buff for a ranged defense general because siege also attacks at a distance, in fact a much longer distance. If the strategy is to pick off enemies before they reach your base, siege would be the most natural complement.

The best monsters ranged generals in Evony TKR are Minamoto no Yoshitsune, Simeon the Great, and Alfred the Great.

Ranged is the second weakest type for hunting bosses or monsters. Only siege is weaker.

In fact, a rule of thumb for ranged monster marches is that you will need three times the ranged power to take out any given boss compared to mounted.

However, many people still use their spare ranged marches to rally or attack bosses when their horse or cavalry is out rallying a larger boss.

The perk of ranged for hunting bosses is that you can often get a clean (no wounded) kill from a distance, especially for weaker bosses.
